856 Squadron's Rules, Regs & Policies

Fire Orders: East Shore Community Centre (ESCC)

1. Upon discovering a fire, the cadet is to yell "FIRE, FIRE, FIRE", and pull the nearest Fire Pull Station.

2. Upon hearing a Fire Alarm, cadets are to proceed calmly out the nearest exit door, and around to the back  of the Community Centre (the back of the Community Centre is where the main parking lot is, and where the lawn bowling field is located). The assembly area for all cadets is the gravel parking lot beside the lawn bowling field.

3. Upon arriving at the assembly point, cadets are to immediately form-up in their flights.

4. The Senior Cadet or Staff Member in each training location (gym, classroom, etc...) is responsible to ensure that all their cadets exit the building safely.

5. The Duty Staff or other designated personnel will check all washrooms in the Community Centre to ensure they are empty of cadets.

6. Once all Squadron members are outside and formed-up, the Admin Staff will conduct a roll call which will be reconciled against the roll taken at Opening Parade.

Damage & Vandalism to Any 856 Squadron Training Location

A Training Location is deemed as any location that 856 Squadron is utilizing to conduct any cadet related training.

Where it has been established that a cadet or cadets have willfully damaged or vandalized any part of a Training Location, the appropriate action will be taken by the Commanding Officer, which can include counseling (with or without parents/guardians), possible dismissal from the squadron and, depending on the severity of the offence, reporting to police for further action.

Wherever the Squadron is training, you should consider it your home, and treat it as you would treat your own home.

The UHRA will then investigate any suspected incidence of harassment. If the allegations prove to be founded, they will consult with the CO on the appropriate action to be taken. Depending on the severity of the harassment, this may include dismissal from the Squadron.

Fraternization

Personal relationships (friendship) between cadets are bound to happen in the CCO. In fact, meeting new people and making friends is encouraged as part of the Cadet Experience. It is strongly recommended that cadets leave their personal relationships ‘at the door’ when engaged in any cadet activity. This is best to avoid any accusations of favouritism or unfairness in your decisions.

Romantic/sexual relationships among cadets are something that cannot be avoided. However, any display by 2 cadets, or a cadet and a non-cadet, of a romantic/sexual nature while engaged in any cadet activity is strictly forbidden. Activities such as hand-holding, kissing, and things of that nature are not permitted while on cadet activities.

Cadets who engage in fraternization will be counseled by the CO or their designate.

Cadets are reminded that while engaged in cadet activities, they are representing the Squadron and the CCO, and are to conduct themselves in a manner that will reflect positively upon our Organization.

Attendance

Attendance is directly linked to a cadet's progression within the Squadron. In order to pass their Level, cadets must attend Wednesday night training on a regular basis. Failure to do so may result in the cadet having to repeat the Level.

It is the cadet's responsibility to notify the Squadron in the event of an anticipated absence.

Attendance will be taken every week. Duty Staff will contact absent cadets to determine the reason for their non-attendance.

In the event of prolonged absences, further administrative action may be taken.

Arriving Late on Wednesday Nights

If a cadet arrives late on a Wednesday night, they must report to the Duty Staff to sign-in. Once they have signed-in, they are to report to their class.

Leaving Early on Wednesday Nights

Cadets will not be permitted to sign-out of Wednesday night training unless their parent/guardian is there at the Duty Desk to pick them up.
